Guidelines for the University Scholars Program
2008-09

Eligibility and Selection of Scholars:

Undergraduate students from any College who wish to conduct research with a faculty member in the College of Medicine are eligible to compete for this award. Applicants must have maintained an overall GPA of 3.0 or better, and have at least one more year of undergraduate studies remaining. Students should contact a faculty member with whom they would like to conduct research and then complete the University Scholars Program application form that is available here or at the USP web site (http://www.scholars.ufl.edu).  A list of the participating College of Medicine faculty, plus research descriptions, can be found by clicking here.

Nomination packets should be submitted by the student or faculty mentor to Mrs. Nichole Stafford (Room L4-185, McKnight Brain Institute). These packets must include the following 3 items:

The deadline for receipt of nomination completed packets is no later than 2 p.m. on Friday, February 29th, 2008.  Nomination packets that are incomplete, or that are received after the deadline, will not be considered.

The awardees will be chosen by a College selection committee. Each University Scholars award will consist of a $2,500 stipend for supervised research.

Presentation and Publication of Research Projects:

All 2008-09 scholars are expected to publish in the Journal of Undergraduate Research and/or present their work at the University Scholars Symposium.
