Faculty Mentor Indirect Cost Return Agreement

An IDP student may receive $300 per year to support travel to present their research at a meeting. However, if the mentor agrees to allocate at least 1% of their total center indirect cost returns to the IDP center, the student may receive up to $1,000 per year if they are presenting author or $300 if they are co-author, not presenting. Please use this form to agree to allocate at least 1% of your center IDC returns to the IDP. Although allocations can be designated at any time, the final allocations for the previous fiscal year IDCs are made in the late fall and collected in December. You will be reminded of this commitment at the appropriate time, and compliance will be monitored. The maximum benefit over the $300 per presenting student that a faculty member's total graduate students may receive is twice the amount of IDCs contributed, i.e., the amount of IDCs contributed affects the amount of travel paid. Note that student travel is a reimbursement of payment initially made from a grant or department account. The IDP does not front funds for travel, but will confirm a student's eligibility for reimbursement ahead of time, depending on the completion of this form, if necessary.

    You will be reminded of this commitment in the fall when final IDC return allocations are made online. The IDC center for the IDP is MD-GRADUATE STUDENT PROGRAMS, recipient 29010801, fund 00047341. These funds will only be used for student travel and gap funding of student expenses for faculty who have contributed to the fund.
