Fall Journal Clubs for First Year Students

Below is an incomplete table that shows the journal clubs that are being offered in the fall semester.  If there is a Y in the left column, then the course director has indicated that it is OK for first year students to attend.  The blanks mean that I haven’t heard back yet, not necessarily a No.  Feel free to contact that course director if you have an interest in that journal club.  This list will be updated as I hear back from my colleagues.

You may skip around to different journal clubs each week, but you must attend a journal club every week,

Here is how this is going to work.  There will be a sign-in sheet for these journal clubs.  You must sign in to the journal club that you attend each week.  If you sign in and leave, it will be treated as any other academic dishonesty, i.e., cheating, lying, plagiarism, and the consequences will be severe.  You will allowed to miss three journal clubs through the semester with no consequence, so there is no reason to be in a situation where you feel you need to try to get credit for doing something that you don’t do.  If you miss more than three (or anticipate missing more than three, then on a limited basis (not defined here intentionally)) you may attend two journal clubs in one week to make this up.  Submit both reports the same week, don’t spread them out.  Abuse of this accommodation will end it.

Here is a link to an online form for you to briefly report your experience in journal club that week.  It must be completed by Saturday of the week:
