Application Process

The next term for which applications for admission to the IDP will be accepted is fall 2015.  The IDP admits students only in the fall semester.

The deadline for submission of all application materials is Monday, December 1, 2014.

Applicants must meet the minimum requirements for the University of Florida Graduate School:  Junior/Senior GPA > 3.0 and a score on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) of 1000 combined verbal and quantitative. Note that for students accepted into the IDP the average GPA is 3.5 and our average GRE is 310 (new) or 1220 (old).

STEP 1:  Apply via the University of Florida Graduate School web page.

Go to the University of Florida Graduate School application page.

Complete and submit all of the required documentation.  Note that you do not have submit the fellowship/assistantship application.

STEP 2:  Official Transcripts.

Official transcripts must be submitted directly to the IDP by all undergraduate and graduate institutions you have attended. All transcripts mailed by the student will be considered unofficial.  Unofficial copies will be accepted for initial review purposes, but official documents will be required before an admission decision can be made.

Have the other transcript sent directly to the University of Florida Office of Admissions as instructed on the UF online application instruction page.

STEP 3: Three (3) Letters of Recommendation.

Letters must be submitted online via the University of Florida Graduate School system.  Paper letters will not be accepted.  The most useful letters come from faculty members who know you well.  If you performed research, we expect a letter from the faculty member who oversaw your research.  Letters from employers who are not faculty members are generally not helpful for graduate admission.  Letters ideally are from faculty who hold a doctoral degree (i.e., teaching assistants are not appropriate).

STEP 4:  Official Test Score Reports.

Official GRE (everyone) and TOEFL (international applicants) score reports must be submitted directly to:

STEP 5: Application Fee.

($30 nonrefundable application fee, submitted online or mailed by check or money order payable to “University of Florida”). There is absolutely no provision for waiving or deferring the $30 application fee.
